THE STORY TELLER
I, Pushpa, love children and I also love telling stories. I’ve been telling stories for 30 years. I told stories about places, people and beautiful sights from across the world. I wrote books too and among my favourites are the one about my pet cocker spaniel (the love of my life) - “My Favourite Child Champ” and the one I wrote about a great man who helped India’s Independence movement - “The Case that Shook the Empire”.
'The Case That Shook the Empire' is the story of Sir C. Sankaran Nair who had the courage to fight the British in London at the highest British Court, the Kings Bench, with an English Judge presiding and an English jury standing judgement. This wonderful story pf courage and determination is now being made into a feature film by reputed film maker Karan Johar's prestigious production house Dharma Productions and Still Media Collective. The film is to be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi.
When on June 9, 2019, my little grand daughter, Nivaya, was born,, I wanted to tell her all the stories I knew and many many more. So the minute she was born I started writing stories especially for her. I wrote them down so as not to forget or miss out on any of them. I wrote and wrote and then I had a huge collection and I thought why not tell my stories to more children and that’s how this blog began.

The first story on Fablerus was posted on 9 March 2020. It was intended to be a monthly edition. However when the the COVID 19 pandemic broke out and lockdown was announced across India and the world i received many requests for more stories. Grandmothers and parents needed to keep children entertained indoors and stories were an enjoyable past-time.. I posted one story every fortnight. I then received a barrage of requests for a story every day. This was not possible as I have other writing assignments that need my attention too, I agreed to posting a story a week. Fablesrus carried a story every week till the end of June. Thereafter with online schooling taking up the greater part of the child's day, we reduced our posts to once every fortnight. In 2021 with the easing of the lockdown and more outdoor facilities being available to children Fablesrus has been featuring one story a month.

The stories featured are from our ancient scriptures and are a part of our treasured heritage. Each story drives home valuable lessons and offers wonderful role models for children to emulate. These are stories passed on from one generation to the next. Stories we are familiar with yet stories that need to be retold and re-read.

Happy reading little children, Mom’s and Dads !
